YEA for my daughter!
Yesterday my kids school had an assembly for "Young Author's" and my twins (in 2nd grade) had to write a book about two months ago. Anyway, they had the book winners all out on a table so the parents knew who won prior to the assembly. At first I was really pissed cuz all the books we saw were all the rich kids who were winners. Hubby and I were like "Oh that figures! Could it be more fixed?" So we're about done and they call a winner for the best illustrator and for some reason I just KNEW they were gonna call my daughter's name - and they DID!!! She won out of 172 kids in K-4th grades! They even put all her drawings up on the big screen in the gym! She was so excited, the poor thing was crying when she went up to get her award! We were so happy for her cuz she wanted to win really badly. She got two certificates, a blue ribbon and a $25 gift certificate to Barnes & Noble (which she promptly spent on a book and new webkinz.) I went back to work after telling my office mates she probably wouldn't win and we'd have a devastated child on our hands, yelling "SHE WON, SHE WON!!" Yes, I'm pityful, LMBO!!
My son didn't win and frankly I didn't feel bad for him cuz his was required by his teacher and he had a month to complete it, which he waited til the last minute despite repeated warnings to get it done, then it was a hastily put together jumble. I figure this may teach him he needs to work ahead. Plus, he'd won a drawing earlier in the week so he was even IMO. I know this sounds bad, but you have to know the kid. I love him but he's always thinking he's the only one who should win anything or have anything bought for him or be first at everything. It's quite sad really.
Anyway, YEA Brooke!!

Re: YEA for my daughter!
Thanx! She was. She'd talked about the thing for over a week, ALL day long!
